Telephone Boxes Become Works of Art in London

June 21, 2012

My favourite British icon is being showcased as part of a new art event in London this summer called ArtBox and sponsored by BT. Nearly 85 red telephone boxes, each one decorated by a different artist, are being placed in different locations around the city and later auctioned off to raise money for Childline.  See the full line up at the ArtBox website.

Aren’t they beautiful? I have just seen the one in real life, outside of Charing Cross Station, but I hope to spot a couple more soon.

These look great, telephone boxes are very British and it’s a great way to use them around our capital.

Saw some near Park Lane. Great idea. My village just acquired its disused and in situ red box, and we were wondering what to do with it – now we know!
