Why would I show you photos of a former sewer pumping station? Because Crossness Pumping Station in London features ornamental cast ironwork from the Victorian era so spectacular it has to be seen to be believed. Indeed, Sir Nikolaus Pevsner, a scholar in the history of architecture, called Crossness “a masterpiece of engineering – a Victorian cathedral of ironwork”.
The images below are the work of London based photographer Paul Parkinson (you may recognise him from my gallery post last week.) Paul said these photos are HDR, edited in Adobe Lightroom and then Photomatix. I think you’ll agree they are simply stunning!
