Why Americans Use Timeshares to Explore Overseas
*The following is brought to you by Sell My Time Share Now.
Whenever you hear someone from America preparing for a trip across the pond, you’re bound to hear a variety of different misconceptions uttered before they depart.
“I’ve heard the food is bad…”
This couldn’t be further from the truth. Sure, you might not enjoy some of the bastardized pub dishes that you’ve tried at your local British bar but the reality is that England and the rest of the United Kingdom are home to some of the world’s finest chefs and restaurants. Does the name Gordon Ramsay sound familiar? He didn’t become the culinary icon he is today from serving fish and chips dipped in tartar sauce.

“I wonder if there are any negative feelings held over from the Revolutionary War?”
They say there are no stupid questions. If that’s the case, then this is as close as it gets. While encountering openly negative feelings towards Americans is going to be possible no matter what country you travel to, rest assured you will never meet any British civilian harboring a 230+ year old grudge. You’re way more likely to run into some football (soccer) fans still salty about the 1950 World Cup. Trust me… football fans never forget.
Misconceptions are often hard to explain and more often harder to overcome. Which is why I’d like to suggest timeshares as a holiday accommodation option – despite the less than flattering misconceptions most people have of them. In reality, those that have purchased timeshare resales from other owners have found that the flexibility of owning one is the easiest way for them to travel. Here are some of the main reasons why owners love United Kingdom timeshares:

- Golf. Scotland is home to St. Andrews, the birthplace of golf, but to any avid golfer playing the links of “The Old Course” is almost a religious experience. Aside from this golf Mecca, Scotland hosts more than 600 golf courses which is convenient for timeshare owners because these resorts are frequently on or near many of these courses. These resorts often have connections or agreements with the courses that can help you get discounts or that tee time you thought you’d have to wait days, weeks, even years for.
- Flexibility to exchange weeks to different countries each year. When you have a United Kingdom timeshare, you typically have a home resort that you go to every year. So, you and your family really love London and like traveling there every year? Then you probably would want your home resort there too. But, let’s say the kids have gotten older now and it’s just you and your spouse this year and you feel like exploring some of the rest of what the UK has to offer. Timeshare weeks can be exchanged to similar resorts in other countries. So, if last year you went to London, why not visit Edinburgh, Scotland this year and then Dublin, Ireland the next? You have a network of resorts in various cities and towns all across the United Kingdom that you can tap into.
- A full week. Flying internationally is a long flight so it’s nice to stay for a full week when you do go. Timeshares are most commonly available by weeks (7 days/7nights) and this gives you plenty of time to explore. These weeks are also cost effective when you compare it to renting 7 nights at a hotel. Plus, with timeshare units you have full kitchens and living rooms which you almost certainly won’t find in any hotel. With a week’s time, you could even take a day or two to travel to Dublin or Edinburgh from London and see which destination you want to go to next year.
- Brand names. International travel can be difficult enough even when the country you’re visiting speaks the same language. How many times have you rented a hotel room or B+B based on the pictures and arrived only to be disappointed to see that the place you booked was not exactly as it looked? When you’re traveling to a foreign land, it’s even easier to misjudge accommodation images, which is why some travelers find comfort in staying at brand recognizable resorts. Many of the timeshares available to travelers are hosted at resorts owned by brands like Marriott and Hilton.
- Shuttles. Having someone coming to pick you up from the airport and bringing you right to your room can be such a welcome sight after a long flight. Lugging baggage around, flagging down taxis, or finding the right bus to take is the last thing you probably want to do. This may sound silly, but by not having to rent a car, you won’t have to worry about that hands on crash course in driving a car on the left side of the road with the steering wheel on the right. Certainly, not a challenge that should be undertaken by the travel weary.
No matter how you choose to spend your holiday in the United Kingdom, be sure to choose the option that’s going to make you and your family the most comfortable and stress free. With such a rich variety of culture and history to explore, you’ll look forward to your next trip to the UK destination of your choosing all year long.
